Feeling Glittery

This week has been quite Glittery!

To start off, I celebrated my post transplant birthday on Monday. So fun! This week has been great, a few bumps on days and long clinic visits. My stomach has flare ups, because of the GVHD, and so does my skin...and it becomes quite painful. I had mentioned earlier about starting a new procedure called, ECP. It's really hard to explain (so i'll leave that up to my mom, lol). But basically the whole purpose is to try and get me slowly off the dreaded sterroids and recovering. I'm currently here doing my first round. The crappy side, is that a new high volume port will have to be placed in my chest; they're hoping to get that scheduled within the week, because the broviac isn't necessarily compatible with the high volumes going into me.

Highlights from this GLITTERY week:

>>> Craft night with my aunt Kara...It's a secret so i'm keepin this one on the down low

>>> Trying lobster for the first time AMAZING!! I used to hate seafood, but those donar cells may be changing things

>>> Being able to take pics of my cute best friend for Winter Formal. She looked stunning.

>>> Starting off ECP with my cute momma

>>> As a lot of you know, I'm obsessed with fashion, designing, crafting, SHOPPING, photography...dah dah dah dah. I feel like it just makes you want to get up and have a fun day. I love bloggers, and this week one of my faves  @Whippycakes, sent me the cutest package full of amazing pieces of clothing, jewelry, everything you could imagine. @Flybirdaparell has also been so kind with their amazing, comfy, inspiring t-shirts. Thank you ladies for putting a little sparkle in my week.

>>> Photoshoots. I've done a fun few photoshoots with my madi & my cute sis hattie just for the fun of it. It's been hard for me to come out of my shell with the face changes and all that...but it's been sort of relaxing to get dressed up and have a little fun.

Good Friends & Good Times

This week has been great. It's been so nice to be away from the hospital and home with my family. Over all I've felt pretty good. Tired and not a lot of energy...but that was expected. The chemo wiped out my lymphocytes, so it's harder for my body to fight off infections now. luckily, I haven't gotten sick and I've done really well.
I had a clinic appointment Monday for labs and a dressing change, and we met with Dr.Adams, another transplant doctor. She said everything looked great and my counts were good, so it was a positive visit. We got everything set in place for tomorrow (Thursday). I'll be admitted tomorrow, then start chemo Friday. The chemo they're starting is called Fludarabine. I'll be on high doses of that until next Tuesday, then on Wednesday they will start a different chemo called Melphalan. That will just go on for that day. These chemo's will cause mouth sores, fevers, vomiting...etc. Definitely not looking forward to that. My Dr. said my hair will start falling out within two weeks. Right now I'm ok with the whole "hair loss" thing, but I'm sure when it actually starts happening it will be difficult. Thankfully there's beanies ;) I'll have two days of rest, then August 23 will be my transplant birthday. I'll receive my new bone marrow. It will be an amazing day.

People ask me how I'm feeling about all this and my thoughts on it, and I usually say "fine" or "ok" but honestly I'm terrified. Not many things scare me and I can usually handle a lot of things, but I'm absolutely terrified. There's so many "what if's" and so much scary to transplant. That's just the truth of it. But at the same time, I'm excited. Excited for the future, excited for hopefully one day being healthy. There's so many things I want to do that right now I just can't, so I'm excited for that day when I CAN do anything I set my mind to.

7 days in a nutshell

Beach, beach, San Diego Zoo, beach, Sea World, ice cream, madi, best friends & family, beach….that was my week. And it was THE BEST WEEK EVER!!
We spent the week in San Diego with the Jobe family as a last get away before transplant. We had the BEST time with lots of laughs. It was so good to be able to get away and relax. I sort of forgot all of the crazy things going on back here in AZ! I'm so so grateful for the jobes and my family for making that trip possible…I love you guys more than you even know!! BEST TRIP EVER!!! Here's my week in pics:

While on our trip, transplant called. That's not usually the greatest sign, especially in this case. We got some news that was pretty hard to hear and very very frustrating. Dr. Douglas told us that the donor she had chosen, you know the one in the military, may not be able to donate his marrow. They think because of his location(which I don't know where that is) he may be ineligible…and also because he got a tattoo in December it might be risky. People who just got tattoos have to usually wait about a year before they can donate blood or marrow. So where does this leave us? Well, I won't be admitted on the 28th anymore, now that they have to do more testing on the donor or find a new one. This pushes things back for I don't know how long. We're kind of back to the waiting game…and that is very disappointing and frustrating to me. Mentally, I was prepared for July 28th…I was ready to get this show on the road, but that's not how it's supposed to be i guess. The lord has a better plan, and hopefully they will be able to find another donor quickly (luckily I have other donors). I am hopeful, and although it's not what "I" wanted, it's all gonna work out how it's supposed to. I will make sure to keep all of you updated on this process…in the meantime please pray that my doctor will be able to get another healthy donor very soon.

Thanks everyone for all the love and support!!
